Black wool drop-crotch pants from Comme des Garçons, Fall/Winter 2009
Soft felted wool with all-over irregular white polka dots. Elastic waistband with drawstring, side pockets, exaggerated low crotch and tapered legs that create that signature CDG balloon-meets-sarouel silhouette.
FW2009 was part of Rei Kawakubo’s ongoing exploration of distorted proportions and playful surface work — polka dots being one of her recurring visual codes throughout the years.
This pair sits right in that universe: classic motif, radical shape.
